Greetings from The Odwar Fund!
The education in uganda is movimg towards a new digital error with the ministry of education requiring all learners to be registered on the EMIS-Education Management Information System. This process requires that all learners' information including that of their parents is entered on the EMIS Portal.
It should be realizd that the IT level of most people in uganda is still low with many school managers including teachers having very little expertise in Computer related knowledge. Given the above gap on IT skills ,many schools are facing immense challenges getting this data entered and a number of rural schools have had immense challenges meeting datelines.
In the event that the ministry sticks to punitve mesures of de-lincensing non compliant schools it will mean that a number of rural schools would be affected and hundreds of thouands of children will loose opportunity to be in school as a result.
The Odwar Fund believes that there is need to strengthen training in the IT for teachers and managers of schools in rural areas to cope with the new digital era.
The supporters,we are so excited that you have given us opportunity to reach out to hundreds of children,i am requesting for your thoughts to be focussed on looking for pattners and institutions that can work with The Odwar Fund in supporting basic IT training and opportunities for rural community schools as a means of making our schools and teachers ready for the new digital era and ensuring that our children both now and in the future are not left behind even as we seek to be part of the Global Partnership for development contained in the sustainable development goals,SDGs objective.
Finally i want to thank you and implore you to talk to as many people as possible about the work and challenges ahead of us as we strive to pull through thousands of children in rural Northern uganda who actually deserve same opportunitties that are available in other places.
