Education to Students and Children Under Six Years

Dear donors and supporters,

It is with very profound gratitude that I write to you this report.

The academic year 2022 came to an end amidst a mixed bag of issues. 

On a positive note,a number of the children under our Care have been able to complete the year at the learning centers and have been promoted to the next classes. For those in the other levels like the university they have also had very successful semesters which testifies to the great results of the support you have provided which ensures these children have access to the education that they so much need to attain.

At the moment The government through the ministry of education has introduced an IT based program called EMIS- Education Management Information System which allows all centers to upload information for all learners and as a result over 250 children in centers under our support have had their information collected and awaiting upload into the EMIS portal. There will be need for all children enrolling to be uploaded to the EMIS portal and this means that the need for the staff working in our centers to have IT knowledge. 

It is critical to note that the number of children accessing centers under our support are increasingly growing and services like classroom desks, classrooms,toilets are increasingly becoming constrained. The need to access support for putting in place these facilities can not be understated and we can only achieve these with support from our donors and well wishers. I would wish to invite you that at your most convenient timing you consider visiting us and advising on the best ways to offer children an environment where they are best placed to play, learn and grow.

In the course of the third term,it became so apparent that a number of our children could not be on uniform or have sufficient academic supplies because the parents have had a difficult impact of the economic meltdown resulting from the Russia Ukraine war that pushed prices of commodities very highl and setting Uganda on double digits inflation with devastating effect on the poor parents,as result we have had huge difficulty keeping the children in school but we thank God that with the support from you these were possible but I implore you to consider speaking to people in your network and consider putting some additional support so that we can better support the children in 2022.

Education for the rural poor is barely a luxury as in most circumstances these children come from poorest of the poor households where access to food alone is a challenge. In one of the centers we have ensured the provision of meals at the learning center and we have seen the great outcome on child performance, we look forward to mentaining this service for the children as besides improving their academic performance they have had great improvement in their physical growth and development.

I wish to sincerely thank you all for reading through this but we at The Odwar fund are so blessed to have you as partners in supporting us reach hundreds of children who would have otherwise not accessed education, you are always in our thoughts and prayers.
