Asante Aid seeks donor support to establish a Child Education Sponsorship Program in Kilifi County, Kenya. This initiative will connect sponsors directly with children from disadvantaged families who cannot afford school fees. Sponsors will cover education costs from kindergarten through university, ensuring continuity and reducing dropout rates. The program will provide school fees, necessities, and mentorship for children aged 5-18 years, with flexible sponsorship options.
Kilifi County faces: Poverty Rate: 49.2% of residents live below the poverty line. Multidimensional Poverty: 52.5% of children lack nutrition, healthcare, housing, and clean water. Education Deficits: Literacy rate: 68% (below national average). 72% of secondary candidates score D+ or lower. Only 10% qualify for university admission (vs. 25% nationally). Teacher shortage: 62% deficit in junior schools. Infrastructure gaps: overcrowded classrooms, shared facilities.
SDG 4 (Quality Education): Ensure inclusive and equitable education. SDG 5 (Gender Equality): Empower girls by reducing dropout due to early marriage/pregnancy. Kenya Vision 2030: Strengthen human capital through education. GlobalGiving Alignment: Direct donor child linkage, transparency, and measurable impact.
Enroll 500 children in the sponsorship program within Year 1. Achieve a 90% retention rate among sponsored children. Provide gender balanced sponsorships (50% girls, 50% boys). Share quarterly performance reports for each sponsored child. Provide sponsors with school fee structures, invoices, and receipts for transparency. Allow donors to choose a child from a vetted list with a bio and passport-size photo.
