To assist 25 children in our rural community who because of poverty have dropped out of school and who need to get back to school, so we launched the Ugandan Children Scholarship Fund to provide formal education to disadvantaged rural children.
Children in the Jinja community in Uganda face difficulties accessing a good education due to extreme poverty because their family can't afford to pay school fees and intense discrimination to access education in a society where women are expected to remain at home. We focus on girl children based on assessment of their conditions in the community, focusing on orphans, neglected girl children, and children from low income families (earning less than $2 per day) or families that are unemployed.
We want girls and boys in our community to attend school by having the funds to gain an education. The project will solve problems by giving children access to education by paying school fees, health insurance and welfare assistance. This will increase their knowledge, self-esteem, so they will gain a better jobs and life in the future.
Education to girls particularly in school will increase their knowledge, help them gain access to networks, reduce teenage pregnancies and improve their future livelihoods with better job prospects and independence. Girls will be able to help their families, up to 500 people in the community.
