This year has been nothing short of remarkable for the twelve primary schools we support in the Ouelessebougou region of Mali. Because of the generosity of donors like you, 2,446 students gained access to education—1,177 of them girls, reflecting our steadfast commitment to gender equity in the classroom. We also welcomed 491 new students (225 girls and 266 boys), ensuring that more children than ever have the chance to learn, grow, and shape their futures.
A strong education system begins with empowered teachers and engaged communities. Over the past year, we:
Hosted 35 education council trainings to help village leaders strengthen and support their local schools.
Trained 26 teachers to improve classroom instruction and student outcomes.
Provided school supplies for 1,219 students and 56 sturdy classroom benches to create better learning environments.
Distributed 24 fifty-kilogram bags of rice to support our hardworking teachers—just one small way we express our gratitude for their dedication.
And now, we are thrilled to share some exciting news: next month, we will break ground on three new classrooms in the village of Djemene! This major construction project—made possible through the generosity of our donors and a valued partnership with the Mali Wellness Foundation—will provide space for a growing student population and create a vibrant place for children to learn, the community to gather, and relationships to flourish between our communities in Mali and here at home.
While we celebrate these milestones, our work is far from over. Ouelessebougou Alliance will continue to support Djemene and our 11 other primary schools with teacher training, school supplies, school lunches, clean water, and garden initiatives.
We invite you to be part of the next chapter—to help us equip every child in the Ouelessebougou region with the education they deserve. Your continued support will keep classrooms full, teachers empowered, and communities thriving.
