Welcome 2023!

By Jaime Hunter | Executive Director

With a new year come new challenges, new goals and new opportunities. It is time for Escuela Adelante to work towards the completion of our primary school building. In Nicaragua, primary school runs first through sixth grade. This year we launch 6th grade and we will have our first primary school graduation at the end of the year. However, we remain two classrooms short! That means that between preschool and primary, some of the groups must share classrooms. This of course affects our enrollment and as hard as we work to prevent it, our overall quality. It is not a sustainable way to grow our school. This must change and we need your help!

We must keep our educational programs open and accessible to families of all socioeconomic backgrounds. It is not possible to raise the price of tuition in order to build more classrooms. It is not possible in fact to raise the price of tuition to meet our operations budget, let alone fundraising for construction. However, s a registered non-profit organization we have the ability to fundraise to meet our goals. We rely on sponsors, donors, benefactors and other institutions to help us reach our goals, so that the burden doesn’t lay on local Nicaraguan families!

Afterall, Nicaragua remains one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere. It is hard enough to put food on the table and provide a stable homelife for many children – asking for money for private school is often a priviledge reserved for few. But, it shouldn’t be that way. And we refuse to operate that way. And that’s why we are so grateful to our monthly sponsors, one-time donors and others.

When we work together we ensure equal access to high-quality education. Now, in 2023 is the time to finish our primary school building. There’s no other way to move forward with our mission and the growth of our school. If you haven’t already signed up to become a monthly donor, we have a one-time 100% match for all new recurring donations up to $200 per month after 4 months. Also, please consider making a one time donation.

Join us to make a difference in Nicaragua and bring a wave of revolutionary change to this beautiful country and people!
