“My name is Kalondu, my mother got married at the age of 12years to a 70years old man, it was ok then and everyone ahead of her had followed the same path. She quickly gave birth to me a year after, and the next year and soon she was a mother of seven, her health has deteriorated over time, and since my father who was the sole bread winner passed on there was no hope for school or an education for me and my siblings.”
Project Interventions:
Through Mfariji Africa Intervention the girls in my school and I have received sanitary towels and reproductive health training.I now have a better understanding of myself and the normal changes happening to my body. I am able to stay in school without fear of soiling myself, and I’m happy that I can get equal reading/study hours with the boys in my class.” .
Result:
Recently i joined Mfariji Clubs which is a mentorship program run by Mfariji Africa to equip girls with life skills and character building.Im amazed by how much im learning about my potential and that i can be anything i want to become if i believe in myself. I’m working hard to become a beneficiary of Mfariji Scholarship fund because I cannot wait to see what the future holds for me. ~ Kalondu
