Mfariji Africa supports disadvantaged Kenyan girls to stay in school and finish their education through provision of sanitary products, menstrual hygiene training and mentorship.
850,000 Girls in Kenya miss school 5 to 6 days every month during their menstruation because they cannot afford sanitary pads. This means that a girl who is absent from school due to menses for 5 days per month loses 45 days out of school in a year! Mfariji Africa seeks to support these girls from poor social economic background with annual packs of sanitary towels to reduce absenteeism from school leading to poor performance.
Through provision of annual packs of sanitary pads we are saving school days for girls and ensuring that periods do not get in the way of girls right to education. Our mentorship programs carried out simultaneously with the pads distribution ensure adolescent girls are equipped, empowered and educated to make wise and healthy choices in life.
This project will support 500 kenyan girls to stay in school and complete their education becoming productive members of the society.
