Dear YKIP Friends,

May this report finds you well.

It is near the end of 2023 already. Time flies so fast but we would not miss a chance to share a story about our Youth Career Planning Workshop that we did early this month. It is an annual event that we hold to give information about higher education and job searching to our students in grade 12, so they could make better decisions in the future. prior to this event, YKIP conducted a survey to get more understanding about the children's interests. As a result, YKIP invited professionals from the fields of digital marketing, hospitality, and business administration.

The event was held on December 10, 2023 in the auditorium of Universitas Bali Internasional. 78 students attended the event. The students are 12 graders who are in the KEMBALI Scholarship Program. They come from many parts of Bali. Some of the students even came from Tejakula in North Bali and Seraya in East Bali.

In the first part of the event, YKIP invited Ni Ketut Kardini, the Director of HR in The Westin Ubud Bali. Her presentation was about creating a good and appealing CV and cover letter. With her vast knowledge and experience in HR for about twenty years, she gave a lot of insight and examples to the students. Finishing with the CV creation, Ibu Dini gave tips and tricks to the participant in facing a job interview. The children have actively participated in the Q&A section.

After the lunch break, YKIP program manager, Ayu Ratna, shared how to fill out the form to apply for YKIP higher education scholarship. With this instruction given, we hope that the students will fill out the application form correctly and their application can be followed up by a home visit by YKIP staff.

We also invited our partner: Jobstreet Express to share their job portal with the students. Jobstreet Express provided an app where high school graduates could find an entry-level or temporary job. We hope that with the introduction of this app, the students will be able to find a job soon if they decide to work after graduation.

The next session was about digital marketing. The participants learned about the world of digital marketing and what qualifications are needed to be a successful digital marketer. In this session, the presentation was presented by Mr. Kristianto Teguh, a growth hacker in Mitrais, one of YKIP's sponsors.

From the hospitality industry, YKIP invited Mr. Kadek Twentu, HRM of Sthala, a five-star hotel in Ubud. Mr. Twentu shared about the opportunity to work in the hospitality industry, the career path in hospitality, and a very important thing to have: an attitude toward serving the guests. The students are involved in a lively discussion with Mr. Twentu.

Finally, we had Mr. Sani Satria Darmawan from Jobstreet Express shared his knowledge about business administration and development. With his experience in business development since 2009, Mr. Darmawan led the participants into an active discussion at the end of his session.

We hope that the information we share with the students will give them the knowledge to prepare for a better future, not only for them but also for their families and community.

We would like to thank all the sponsors, partners, and supporters who supported us to run the event. Without their support, the event will not run smoothly.

Last but not least, we wish you happy holidays. Thank you for being such an important part of YKIP Scholarship programs, and most importantly, the students’ lives! We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and that the coming year brings your family many blessings.

See you in fabulous 2024!
