Project Report | Sep 4, 2026
Towards 100% Literacy - UC-87 Okara

By Umer Talal | Marketing Officer

1. Executive Summary

Sunbeams PK100 Network is committed to expanding access to quality education for children in underserved communities across Pakistan. As part of this commitment, Sunbeams continues to support educational institutions in UC-87 3/S.P Okara, with a focus on improving access to education, strengthening academic quality, supporting teachers, monitoring student progress, and engaging parents and communities.

Through GlobalGiving, approximately US$5,200 was raised in support of Sunbeams' broader education and literacy initiatives. This funding has contributed to the continuity and strengthening of educational activities and program support in the project area.

During the reporting period, Sunbeams focused on structured academic assessments, teacher development, learning resources, parent engagement, school monitoring, and student activities. These interventions aim to create a stronger and more supportive learning environment for children.

2. Project Overview

The UC-87 3/S.P Okara project encompasses a network of educational institutions serving children from local and underserved communities.

The project currently includes seven educational institutions serving approximately 1,217 students across formal and non-formal education settings. These include:

  • GGES Ladhuka
  • GPS Sikhanwala
  • GGES 2/S.P Chanba
  • GES 2/S.P Chanba
  • OOSC Kahan Singh – Non-Formal Education
  • SSS 2nd Shift – Non-Formal Education
  • SSS 3/S.P

The project combines academic education with monitoring, teacher development, student activities, and community engagement.

3. GlobalGiving Funding

Sunbeams PK100 Network raised approximately:

US$5,200

through GlobalGiving to support its education and literacy mission.

The funding contributed to maintaining and strengthening educational services and activities, including academic support, learning resources, teacher development, assessment, monitoring, and community engagement.

The GlobalGiving contribution forms part of Sunbeams' broader effort to ensure that children in underserved communities have continued access to meaningful and quality educational opportunities.

4. How the Funding Contributed to Education

The GlobalGiving support contributed to several areas of the education program.

4.1 Teaching & Learning Resources

Teachers were supported with topic-specific audio and video learning materials, relevant educational links, monthly test guidelines, and assessment materials.

These resources helped teachers improve classroom delivery and provided students with additional learning support. They also helped establish greater consistency in assessment and examination preparation.

4.2 Student Assessment

Regular assessments were conducted to monitor students' academic progress and identify areas requiring additional support.

The assessment process enabled teachers to identify learning gaps and strengths and helped facilitate targeted academic interventions.

4.3 Teacher Training

Monthly teacher-training activities supported the professional development of educators.

The training focused on improving instructional skills and teaching strategies so that teachers could provide more effective and engaging learning experiences for students.

4.4 Parent-Teacher Engagement

Parent-Teacher Meetings were conducted to discuss students' academic progress and provide parents with constructive feedback.

This strengthened communication between schools and families and encouraged greater parental involvement in children's education.

4.5 School Monitoring and Quality Assurance

Sunbeams continued its REACH Monitoring Program, which combines remote technology with on-ground visits.

The system supports regular monitoring of school performance, identification of challenges, and timely follow-up to maintain educational standards and improve student outcomes.

4.6 Student Development Activities

In addition to academic activities, students participated in co-curricular and extracurricular activities, including sports and competitions.

These activities provided students with opportunities to develop confidence, creativity, participation, and interpersonal skills.

5. Key Activities During the Reporting Period

During the reporting period, Sunbeams implemented a range of academic and institutional activities, including:

  • Monthly student assessments
  • Final-term assessments
  • Parent-Teacher Meetings
  • Teacher evaluations
  • Teacher training and professional development
  • Provision of teaching and learning resources
  • Classroom monitoring
  • REACH monitoring
  • Parent and community engagement
  • Student co-curricular and extracurricular activities
  • Enrollment and outreach activities

These activities were designed to strengthen academic standards, improve learning environments, and ensure continuous monitoring of student progress.

6. Beneficiaries

The project directly supports approximately:

1,217 Students

across seven educational institutions in UC-87 3/S.P Okara.

The project also indirectly benefits teachers, parents, families, and the wider communities connected to these schools.

By supporting both formal and non-formal education settings, Sunbeams seeks to reach children who may otherwise face barriers to accessing quality educational opportunities.

7. Impact of the Support

The support provided through the project has contributed to:

Improved academic monitoring
Regular assessments provide teachers with information about student performance and learning gaps.

Stronger teaching practices
Teacher development activities help educators improve their instructional approaches.

Better learning resources
Teachers have access to additional materials and structured assessment resources.

Greater parent engagement
PTMs create opportunities for parents and teachers to work together to support students.

Improved accountability
REACH monitoring and classroom follow-up strengthen oversight of school performance.

Holistic student development
Academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities support students beyond classroom learning.

8. Contribution Toward the Pakistan 100 for 100 Vision

The UC-87 3/S.P Okara initiative is part of Sunbeams PK100 Network's broader mission to contribute toward Pakistan 100 for 100 — 100% literacy and access to education for all by 2047.

Sunbeams is working toward UC-level school adoption and expanding its outreach across different types of schools and communities with the objective of improving equitable access to quality education.

The GlobalGiving contribution therefore represents more than financial support for individual activities. It contributes to a wider effort to strengthen educational systems and create sustainable opportunities for children in underserved communities.

9. Looking Ahead

In the next phase, Sunbeams plans to continue strengthening academic quality and student enrollment in the project area.

Planned activities include:

  • Admission and enrollment campaigns
  • Timetable planning and implementation
  • Regular quality checks of student work
  • Parent-Teacher Meetings
  • Summer learning activities
  • Training Needs Analysis for teachers
  • Continued teacher development
  • Continued school monitoring and follow-up

These activities will help sustain the progress achieved and further strengthen the quality and reach of education in UC-87 3/S.P Okara.

10. Conclusion

The approximately US$5,200 raised through GlobalGiving has contributed to Sunbeams PK100 Network's ongoing efforts to strengthen education and literacy initiatives in UC-87 3/S.P Okara.

Through support for teaching and learning, student assessment, teacher development, monitoring, parent engagement, and student activities, the project continues to build a stronger educational environment for approximately 1,217 students.

Sunbeams remains committed to ensuring that children from underserved communities have access to quality education and the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills required for their future.

The organization sincerely appreciates the support of GlobalGiving donors. Their contributions are helping transform resources into educational opportunities and supporting Sunbeams' long-term vision of a 100% literate Pakistan by 2047.
