Sunbeams is a nonprofit built purely for children to give underprivileged kids the education, care, and opportunity they deserve. It helps out-of-school children return to learning by providing free education, uniforms, books, and school supplies, so they can grow with dignity and hope. With donor support, Sunbeams continues to create safe learning opportunities for children who deserve a fair chance at a better future.
A staggering 22.8 million children in Pakistan cannot afford to go to school due to a lack of financial resources. Unfortunately, underprivileged families engage their children in child labor to bring in some extra earnings to scrape a living. Consequently, these children are deprived of economic opportunities to break their poverty cycle.
Sunbeams identifies unenrolled and dropout children and enrols them in the nearest Sunbeams school through a door-to-door community outreach approach. To meet different community needs, we operate five models: (1) Sunbeams School System (2) Adopted Government Schools (3) Non-Formal Education (4) Partner Schools (5) Women's Vocational Centres. Currently active in 33 union councils, these models help bring children back to school and expand access to education.
Through the PK100 initiative, Sunbeams is working toward 100% literacy in Pakistan by 2047 by expanding access to quality education for children who need it most. (1)Give children in need the chance to learn, grow, and build a better future. (2)Open doors to opportunity for children who may otherwise remain trapped in poverty. (3)Support a more educated, skilled, and hopeful generation for Pakistan. (4)Reduce inequality by bringing quality education to underserved communities.
