We begin this report with a reminder that this project is implemented by the CR HOPE Foundation.

Thanks to your generous donations received over the past 3 months, we are pleased to report that the our foundation has built 2 bungalows to provide free accommodation to our teachers.

This was made possible thanks to you and the enormous support received from our volunteers, who visit our project since the begining of the year.

How does your contribution make an impact in Zanzibar?

  • 1/3 of Zanzibar's children do not attend primary school
  • 80% of primary school pupils also often fail their final national examinations
  • For those who are enrolled, there are no sufficient qualified teachers, classrooms and equipment
  • In Zanzibari schools, there is a lack of teachers in total, especially in very important fields of Math, Science and English, lowering the future opportunities for students

All of the above automatically prevent many youth from being educated and positioned for well-paid jobs in the future, which affect the overall Tanzanian community in general, financially and socially.

For this reason, CR HOPE Foundation has hired teachers from mainland Tanzania as they seem to be more qualified than those available in Zanzibar. In order to help our teachers save money from house rentals, we decided to build 2 self-contained bungalows and provide them with free accommodation. We hope that this way our teachers will be more motivated, increased their income and most importantly spend more energy on the project.

We depend on your continued donations to implement more components of our programming and to ultimately make our project sustainable.

We begin this report with a reminder that this project is implemented by the CR HOPE Foundation. Thanks to your generous donations received in April, we are pleased to report that the “Seeds of Light” school has expanded  its capacity from 53 students to over 100 - by buidling 5 new classrooms. This was made possible thanks to you and the enormous support received on the ground from 20 families (more than 60 volunteers), who visited our project in May, and constructed additionally a state-of-the-art playground area and installed a solar farm as well.

How does your contribution make an impact in Zanzibar? Approximately 140,000 children between the ages of 4 and 15 are out of school. Poverty, lower educational attainment of the household head, living in a rural area, and being male are all factors associated with a higher likelihood of 4-15 year olds being OOS. By increasing the capacity of students in our school, the iliteracy rate in the village of Kizimkazi will be reduced further.

This year, thanks to your support, we are able to hire better qualified teachers who can further enhance the current teaching program and curriculum.

We depend on your continued donations to implement more components of our programming and to ultimately make our project sustainable.

Attached to this report are a few pictures with captions of the Seeds of Light school from the field.
