An estimated 1.7 million children in Kenya are orphans, and while primary education may be accessible, a high percentage of children still do not complete secondary school due to financial constraints. While the Kenyan government has made strides in education, the reality is that the financial cost of secondary school fees, uniforms, and books is a challenge to meet. This project provides comprehensive educational sponsorship for 36 children.
Without consistent education, children cannot pass the vital exams needed for a secondary school certificate. This failure strips young people of economic opportunities, permanently locking them into the cycle of poverty. Many children face compounded barriers: they lack the necessary family network and resources to pay for mandatory school fees, uniforms, and boarding costs, making the prospect of graduating from high school virtually impossible without sponsorship.
This project covers all educational needs including payment of termly school fees, mandatory school uniforms, textbooks, stationery, and sanitary supplies. For those in college, sponsorship includes full college fees, textbooks, and room and board. Finally, a mentorship program offers crucial academic guidance and social support for teens and young adults to become independent adults..
Our goal is not just to keep children in school, but to launch them into economic independence, through technical school and college. By funding college fees for top-performing graduates, we provide one of the most powerful tools, a tertiary qualification. The ripple effect is a sponsored child who achieves a technical qualification, skill or college degree becomes a future resource for their family, capable of supporting up to eight additional family members.
