At Tshepong centre for the disabled, we have a grow, learn thrive ethos. We create equal opportunities for learners with special needs. The centre provides day care, nutritional support, sports and leisure, vocational training, agricultural skills and protective workshop activities.
There is still stigma and discrimination on a broad scale towards learners with severe and profound disability. Some learners still do not have access to proper schooling and services
At Tshepong we provide opportunities for education, parental support, vocational training, nutritional support income-generating activities to curb poverty in our community and a protective workshop to help students gain economic independence.
With learners having access to education, therapy and other social inputs they can thrive instead of being ostracised and left at home without care. We provide high-quality programmes that are individualised for each child's needs. We address both stigma and discrimination and help children experience a sense of belonging and self-worth. slowly the community is getting used to the idea that disability is not inability.
