Leydi is a 10th grade high school student at I.E. José Gabriel Condorcanqui school in Imaza, Amazonas. In class, Leydi had to explain how the proper use of solid waste could contribute to achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. She handed in her first work and her teacher Javier (Enseña Peru’s Fellow) gave her the following feedback: “Leydi, your proposal to reduce pollution and thus focus in reaching development goal # 15 is very powerful, because you indicate what to do and what not to do. I leave you a question: what can we do to make your ideas known to the community? "
First, she replied that posters could be made, but due to the pandemic they could not distribute them. Then, while exploring it with her teacher, they came up with the idea of elaborating a reflection on the subject and that it could be included on the school’s Facebook page. Leydi shared the final version of her work in order to motivate her other classmates and the community.
With this activity, Leydi could develop her skills to communicate and inspire her community to do things that would impact in a better environmental education.
