Dear Friends,
Team Adharshila takes immense pleasure in sharing the glimpse of its new building of the school block. In 2014 we embarked on a process of planned expansion so that the benefits of our unique and successful intervention can be extended to a much larger number of students in the target community. A major requirement for the expansion was to expand the infrastructure of the Adharshila Middle and High School. Over next two years we plan to double the intake of students at middle school coming from the Satellite Resource Centers (SRCs). Earlier we worked on expanding our horizontal coverage via SRCs. They provided us inroads to expand the number of beneficiaries.
We also plan to shift the pedagogy. We plan to evolve a more engaging pedagogy that marks a shift from grade based classrooms to theme based. We required 6 halls with a seating capacity for 45-50 students each in an activity based learning mode. At the same time we also wanted the new infrastructure to reflect the overall philosophy and design sensibility of the organization, so that it reinforces our core vision of sustainability and social justice. Therefore we spent significant amount of effort in the planning and design phase before embarking on the physical construction of the new school block. The new block with subject wise activity rooms will be an exciting new way for the students to explore various subjects in their own unique way.
We ensure our pedagogy does not get restricted to area within four walls and hence we strive to include ways that make learning a fun filled experience. One such addition was a telescope. With a good 8” telescope in our repertory we leave no chance to observe any celestial event visible in our area. Last time we gathered to see the full moon or the blue moon. This time on the 31st of Jan around 100 children gathered in the dusk to observe the total lunar eclipse or the ‘Blood Moon. Such activities keep the students as well as teachers hooked to new possibilities of learning.
We hope you enjoyed reading about our new activities. We look forward to your feedbacks on our initiative. Please spread the word about us and strengthen it with your continued support.
Thank you!
