Children Supplementary Education Report

Children playing at Perikeedu center
Children playing at Perikeedu center

Glad to share that in our recent survey on 300 children education, 210 children are in between A and B grades in all their examinations. However the team has given findings and recommendations how to improve rest of children education levels. The tutoring teachers were asked to prepare an action plan by giving priority for these below average students.

Apart from their school curriculum ARV has been encouraging all the children in playing games, speaking English and improving general knowledge. Children joined in NCC (National Cadet Corps) a defense program parallely running by the school to the students who are interested which helps the student Develop Character, Comradeship, Discipline, Leadership, Spirit of Adventure, and Ideals of Selfless Service. From our tutoring centers the teacher motivated 18 children to take part in NCC Course. ARV staff and Board members visited 4 times to monitor the child chance centers, and interacting with the local communities and also took moral classes.

8 children from kandrika tutoring center were participated in the sports (Kabaddi, Volleyball and running) organized by Government of Andhra Pradesh at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium, Vijayawada. 3 children were participated in essay writing competition and got 3rd prize.

Case Study 1:

Student name Lalitha, 14 years old hails from Aaseervadapuram, Machilipatnam. She was forced to dropout as her father and mother both goes for domestic work and their wages are not sufficient and wanted to send her also to work. Because of this she was not only excluded from schooling but also pushed into work as a Domestic Worker to support her family.
She says “My father goes to domestic work that doesn't bring us anything when he comes over. I'd like to go to school, but I have to work”. One day while working– washing dishes, sweeping and mopping the floors, she met Latha (ARV tutoring teacher). Latha counseled the child and parents and joined her in VII class in RCM School at Machilipatnam. Now she is going regularly to school and also coming to our tutoring center regularly with much happiness that she is again back to school.

Case Study 2:

Nagaphani a student of VII class is having a dream to become Police Officer. But, due to his poverty he is not able to have good education. His father long back left his mother and children leaving all the burdens on his mother alone. Her mother and grandmother are looking after them by doing some domestic works in houses. He is having a sister with mental illness (Down syndrome disease) even though she is 15 she can’t do her works by herself. Phani also goes to work to help her mother. Collect all the dry stems and sell in the market and make some money. He is having a passion to study well but due to his poverty he is not able to study neither well nor affordable to join in tuitions. Through his friend (student of our tutoring center) came to know about ARV and he started to come to our education center. He is a telugu medium student but he was very eager to learn English. ARV is teaching him English and all the subjects. Now he is able to say a few sentences in English and also improving in his studies and very happy that he is improving in his studies and able to get good marks. He is very intelligent and he can say 15 poems at a stretch in local language. His mother and grandmother are now so happy being Phani improving in his studies.

ARV team thanking all the supporters who have been involved in changing lives of children and giving future. Donors are free to ask any information with regard project so that we could respond and give more information. Since, we are struggling to mobilize funds to provide quality education for 300 children. Requesting all of you to share this information to all of your friends in this Christmas season.
