Since the beginning of the year, HKSAI has admitted 37 young women for skills training in different courses ranging from computer packages, Hairdressing and Beauty, Hospitality, Bakery and Pastry, Social Work and Community Development. Additionally, HKSAI has financially supported 25 high school students to go back to school,15 of them transitioning from primary school. These are students that would otherwise have missed the opportunity to go to school.
We also increased our staffing by one member (An Office Administrator) because of the increased workload. We successfully trained 15 champions and volunteers whom we released to their respective communities as advocates of access to quality education for gender equality.
In collaboration with Nairobi County, Department of Gender and other stakeholders, we organized and expedited this year's International Women's Day celebrations themed, "Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress".
Additionally, the team has held 3 community dialogue forums with different stakeholders advocating for the need to support girls from the informal settings to access education.
In Eldoret, HKSAI in partnership with other stakeholders, HKSAI participated in the "International Day of Zero Waste", as well as in commemorating the "International Day of Forests".
In Kisumu, HKSAI conducted a climate change mitigation sensitization
We also held a sports day with our beneficiaries.
In Mombasa, HKSAI conducted a cleaning Day at Magongo Dispensary.
