1. Financial support for professional or higher education: Education is an area to which LIGHT in LIFE has always paid special attention. Despite India's economic development, a large part of its population still lives in poverty. As the situation of the neediest has improved only slowly in recent years, there is still a need for action in the form of focused support measures. Our goal is to help young adults to complete an education so that they have a perspective for the future.
When the young people have completed their mandatory schooling, the question of a solid professional training arises for them in order to have any chance at all on the meagre labour market. For many families in India, school fees, the purchase of school materials and other expenses are not bearable. In order to provide their children with a good education, many families go into debt.
LIGHT in LIFE provides financial support for young people who want to attend a vocational school or a higher school after completing compulsory education.
These are mainly training courses in medical professions, engineering, electromechanics, sanitary engineering, hotel management and they usually last 3-4 years. Financial support for 3-4 years would be desirable, depending on the training.
