Nutrition plays an important role in education !
By Shayle Havemann | Project leader
Introduction
The feeding programme improves the health and wellbeing of children. Access, to what may be the only meals they receive in a day, incentivizes families to send their children to school. Children who are fed nutritious meals at school will be more able to engage with school activities and have greater prospects of reaching their full potential.
Report
The feeding programme feeds around 250 children two nutritious meals a day, improving their health and concentration levels. We are also fundraising to build a new school with a veggie garden. It costs the program $15 per child per month to supply breakfast and lunch on their feeding program.

Feeding 8% of children in slums in Kenya!
By Shayle Havemann | Project leader
Introduction
Our school is located in a particularly deprived area of Mombasa. Many children can't access education due to lack of facilities, resources and funds for teachers. This means that families and communities struggle to break the cycle of poverty. Inconsistency or lack of teaching staff due to funding is common and a huge barrier to children's education. Health issues, in particular, hunger and its related ailments, keeps children away as food is prioritized over education.
Report
The school has now grown to 311 students who receive fruit in the morning a cooked lunch and an afternoon snack. Often this is the only meal that these children get. The slum is currently home to approximately 4000 children so there are still many more children going hungry. The feeding programme improves the health and wellbeing of children. Access, to what may be the only meals they receive in a day, incentivizes families to send their children to school. Children who are fed nutritious meals at school will be more able to engage with school activities and have greater prospects of reaching their full potential.

Please support our feeding program!
By Shayle Havemann | Project leader
Introduction
We have been working with a local Primary School in Mombasa since 2010. The school has grown from its humble beginnings as a care centre to a fully-fledged school. As the centre grew and developed, this project has helped to cater to its diverse and ever-changing needs.
Report
Funds collected in the last quarter went towards milk and vegetables on the normal feeding program and for a closing day party at the school. The school also used funds to supply bananas and medication for the children.
Donations made to this project are used to subsidise teachers' wages and the Feeding Programme, which has been running since 2010. By ensuring that teachers can get paid, we are able to provide consistency for the staff and children, helping to keep them in school and maximise their learning capacity. The feeding programme feeds around 250 children two nutritious meals a day, improving their health and concentration levels. We are also fundraising to build a new school with a veggie garden.
