This project empowers vulnerable children and youth in Kabarole, Uganda through comprehensive education and skilling support. We provide school fees, school needs and mentorship to learners from Kindergarten to University. Simultaneously, we equip out-of-school youth and young mothers with self-sustaining skills in tailoring, knitting and more. By providing learning aids, play materials and desks to schools, we ensure an inclusive environment for every learner to achieve a self-reliant future.
Despite Uganda's Universal Education policies, financial burdens (like fees, buying uniforms and other school materials), teenage pregnancies, early marriages among others force 43% of children and youth to drop out of school before completion. The low-income families are the most affected thus this disproportionately excludes the poor from the education system. This cycle of exclusion hinders UN SDG progress and prevents underprivileged children and youth from reaching their potential.
This project implements a holistic support model to eliminate barriers to education. At the institutional level, we provide furniture and learning aids; individually, we cover tuition, uniforms, school materials and meals to prevent dropouts. For out-of-school youth and young mothers, we fund skilling and provide "startup kits" upon graduation to ensure self-sustainability. By addressing both immediate academic needs and long-term skill acquisition, we break the cycle of poverty and illiteracy.
By educating and transforming children and youth into skilled and self-reliant citizens, this project breaks the intergenerational cycle of poverty. Our graduates move from dependency to economic agency, driving local innovation and increasing community household incomes. For young mothers, skill mastery ensures long-term financial stability and better health outcomes for their children. Ultimately, this creates a ripple effect of informed leadership and growth that sustains the nation's future.
