Project Report | Nov 25, 2014
What a Year!

By A.M Niwagaba | Project Leader

I cannot belive that this quarter's report is late by some days! I have not had access to internet in the last couple of weeks for reasons beyond my control. Never the less, I am happy i can now submit the project report for the last quarter of 2014.

What a year! It is pretty obvious the year started like any other but this has been a challenging one for us at Ngoma Aid Foundation. Our fundraising has been significantly down and yet we had to keep pressing on. I'm always happy to report about the children and their ability to get education and the progress made. Unlike other organisation projects that have registered no activity through out the year, this particular project has been vibrant through out the year.

I'm happy to report that all the children have managed to attend the three school terms though they had interuptions in their second term because of the financial challenges, and given that we were planning to move to a new home. Gladys, James and Krishna sat for their Primary Leaving Examinations and will be joining Secondary School come 2015. Natasha, Isaac, Bright, Nina, Evas and AnnaMary changed school in the middle of the year becuase we had to move to a new home. They must be used to the new environment and competiting favourably with the other students given that the two schools are among the best in the District. The challenge is that they each need new sets of uniforms, reams of paper, shoes among other things. We did negotiate with the school to allow them use their old uniforms until next year given our poor financial standing. Prossy changed school too after just a single term in secondary school and is now fully settled in her new school. The older boys Posiano, Sostin and Alex are still in their old school given that they are in boarding school. Sostin continues to benefit from the school bursary for his good performance at school and the other two have out standing school dues that we hope to clear as soon as we have some money coming through.  Bright, Isaac and James have outstanding school fees dues to. If there is one thing i have done this term, it is to move from school to school negotiating the children's stay in school even when they have not paid. That is why others have not paid anything and yet the school term is coming to an end in a couple of days but have attended and are in school.  .

On a more brighter note, Hanifa is finishing her Grade Three Teachers certificate and we wish her well and hope she will get a job as early as next year. Josephine will also be graduating with a BA Social Sciences early 2015. These are the two girls that bring meaning and highlight the importance and achievements of this project that was originally designed to help girls access education despite their poor backgrounds. Allow me Congratulate Hanifa and Josephine upon their success. We are forever grateful to all of you our supporters who have make it very possible for us to extend this help to our beneficiaries. I pray for your continued assistance for the success of the project. You will appreciate that we have to keep pushing and yes, many more need our help.

The next school term is not far from now. The children will be home for the long Chrsitmas holiday but should be able to report back to school by early Feb 2015. As you make your budgets for the coming year, kindly consider making a donation to these angels that need the help.

Merry Christmas
