Uganda has been under lockdown as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic since mid-March 2020. As a result of the lockdown, the children have not been able to attend school or participate in sports events. We are adhering to the guidelines and trying to Keep Safe. I hope you are Keeping safe too. The Ministry of Education suggested homeschool through Television and radios and sadly, the children have not benefitted from that because we practically do not own a television set. As a result, the children are reading the books they have with them and engaging in house chores such as house cleaning, gardening, and of course have time to play.
In the meantime, the food situation during this COVID 19 pandemic period remains dire. The children have breakfast, lunch, and supper at home as opposed to the school term period when they have one meal at home. We have had to devise ways through which we can meet the food need during this period and generally still require more food and other household requirements. The budget shift to provide food to the children has resulted in accumulated electricity and water bills. More still, the end of the COVID 19 lockdown will certainly resurrect the school fees need for the children as schools open. For now, we are however focusing on surviving the COVID 19 lockdown.
Your continued support to the project as we continue to provide for and shape the lives of these children's future remains paramount to the project's success. I beg that you continue to offer to us the much-needed support.
