Looking Forward to the End of the Year
Greetings to our dear friends, well-wishers, supporters and donors. We are happy to be in touch yet again. It has been a challenging but exciting year and I am happy to report that WE are all fine. We were happy to be re united with our ED, Niwagaba during his summer break after close to a year of absence. The stories he told us about Europe were exciting for the children and staff. He has since travelled back.
The year has progressed fast depsite all the challenges and it has had some good highlights too. Yes, the finances remain a challenge and fundraising is a bigger challenge but we have somehow managed to come this far with the financial help of the ED from his study stipend and some donations from you our donors. As a result of this, the project programs have endured the challenges and moved on as planned. The children are at school for the Third term and will be breaking off for the long Christmas holiday mid December 2018. Gladys and James are currently seating for their Ordinary level exams. The rest of the children will be sitting for their promotional exams. We are hopeful that they will all progress to the next class. We will inform you about Gladys and James' future options when the results are back, and ofcourse the children's performance in our subsequent reports. Should Gladys and James fail to join advanced level (for all possible reasons including A' level school fees), they will probably join teachers or nursing colleges. We are however determined to give them the support where possible although it is all subject to the grades they get. We are happy to keep supporting all the children by providing a home, education and other life skills.
We had planned to have the new girl Miss. Kobwa start school in the third term so that she gets used to the school environment but we could not get placement for her at this time of the year. She is however, at the home with the other chidlren getting to learn a thing or two as she prepares to start school next year. She is coping up pretty well.
I am also happy to report that we are set to end the year without big outstanding balances. We are planning on having the remaining fees and supplies balances cleared BUT even if we are to achieve this, we are already strategizing for 2019. We are also looking forward to a quiet and peaceful Christmas. We will be accepting Christmas gifts for the children. We appreciate your help and continue to request for your support for this project. It is important for these children that the project continues to run.
All the best for the remaining part of the year.
