Health Talk For teanagers (MAY 18)
At TANF it is our mission to educate the students in our community in all aspects of life, so that we can build a strong and educated community for now and future generations. Therefore, on the 18th of May 2014, TANF worked in collaboration with the Ghanaian Health Service in our community, to arrange a discussion with the teenagers on what to expect as they enter adulthood. It was an open discussion in which the girls were educated on what to expect when they enter puberty, for example what to do when they get their first period and how to deal with the symptoms, as well as, some simple do’s and don’ts particularly to do with hygiene. This was a real opportunity for the girls, who up until the talk may have had little to no education in this area. Throughout, they had the opportunity to ask questions and well as take in a lot of new information. Below are some photos of our little seminar headed by our community nurses; Mathilda and Gloria and supported by some of our amazing volunteers Anna (Germany) and Jansa (Sweden) and of course our very own Rev. Donations to Beky's Home Ophanage On 1st July,TANF travelled across town to visit Becky's orphanage, a place where 42 children ranging from ages 2-13 years old shared 1 room, which they called home. From donations collected by volunteers, we were able to purchase; 8 large bags of rice, bags of sugar, hundreds of teabags, 25litres of oil, soap and tasty biscuit treats to surprise the staff at the Becky's orphanage with. Here are a few photos taken on the day we handed over the donation.
