Over the past three months, we have continued to see significant needs among children and families in Palestine. Many families are facing increasing financial pressure due to poverty, unemployment, rising living costs, and difficult living conditions. For families already struggling to meet basic needs, education-related expenses can add an extra burden.
Children’s access to education is also affected by school closures, shortened school weeks, teacher strikes, and restrictions on movement. In the West Bank, military raids and checkpoints can interrupt attendance and make travel difficult for children, families, and teachers. These disruptions build on one another. A child who misses lessons may return to a class that has already moved ahead, without enough time or individual support to catch up. Families who cannot afford private tutoring have fewer ways to address those gaps, particularly in refugee camps and underserved communities.
Repeated interruptions to school, exposure to violence, and financial pressure at home affect children’s ability to concentrate, manage their emotions, and connect with others. Parents are trying to support their children while facing uncertainty about their own income, safety, and ability to meet basic needs. With fewer opportunities for regular schooling, play, and social interaction, children also lose routines and relationships that help them cope. This increases the need for accessible psychosocial support and safe community spaces where children can spend time with peers, express what they are experiencing, and receive consistent support from trusted adults.
During this reporting period, our ability to carry out activities was limited. Still, we continued to monitor community needs and consider how the project can best respond to the challenges families and children are facing.
As the needs in the communities we serve continue to evolve, we recently updated the focus of this campaign to "Education & Community Support in Palestine". This reflects what we are currently seeing in the communities we work with and the need for continued support alongside emergency assistance.
With additional support, we aim to provide educational activities and materials, transportation, safe spaces, psychosocial support, learning support for children in refugee camps and underserved communities, as well as assistance with the basic needs of families facing difficult circumstances. Our priority is to respond to practical needs while helping children stay connected to learning and supportive communities.
Although our activities were limited during this reporting period, the needs remain. We will continue to monitor the situation and prepare for the next phase of activities as resources become available.
