I thought you would be interested in a general update about our work with highlights from 2024
Despite Nepal’s ongoing poverty and global neglect, our small organization has made a significant impact, reaching over 17,000 vulnerable children in Pokhara and Butwal.
Life Skills Education (LSE)
Now in 75 schools, LSE benefits 8,000+ students annually and is being integrated into local curricula for lasting impact and sustainability.
Protection Services
We provided essential support to over 2,000 at-risk children, including 502 working children and 79 street-involved youth. 135 were reunited with families or gained independence.
Community Child Protection
We established community hubs (safe spaces for children to learn and play) and child protection groups, reaching 3,000+ children. Local authorities now support child rights initiatives in Pokhara and Butwal.
Education Support
Over 1,200 children were supported to go to school by providing educational materials, negotiating fee waivers, and counselling. 1,093 joined community based after school study groups. Additionally, 170 young people completed vocational training and 84 launched micro-businesses.
"Learning for Life" Success
Following on from the success of this programme for out of school adolescent girls, 102 graduates were trained to provide support and mentoring to other girls in their communities.
Development Through Sport
We introduced sports in 15 government schools in Butwal, benefiting 2,500 children weekly. Nearly 1,000 children participated in our Breaking Boundaries project, which has had a notable impact on girls doing sport, which traditionally they would have been excluded from. A standout success is Rachana Chaudhary, a former participant who has now secured a spot on Nepal’s Under-19 Women’s Cricket Team.
