I would like to share with you a recent case study about how one of our projects in Nepal has changed the life of Binita (not her real name) forever.
Binita is now 16 years old and was forced to drop out of school when she was just 12 to help support her family. At age 13 she moved to Pokhara to live and work in a small restaurant washing dishes. An outreach worker engaged in a Kidasha child labour reduction project, identified Binita and offered to help her attend informal learning classes delivered by the project in a local drop-in centre. Binita was initially reticent but was persuaded to join when she realised that she didn’t have to give up her job. Once Binita started to attend classes, the outreach worker lobbied her employer to allow her to work mornings and evenings so she could return to fulltime formal education. Once agreed, we provided a school uniform and other educational materials and enrolled Binita back in school, where she is now studying hard in Grade 8 and is one of the most motivated and bright pupils in her class.
With your generous support, we can reach more children and sadly there are many more that need our help.
Thank you so much deciding to support Kidasha.
Best wishes
The Kidasha Team
