Educating the Thabang Children

As so many people far and wide have felt the thrills when listening to the Thabang Marimba band putting on performances, a Support Group from Germany, decided to donate enough funds to purchase upgraded musical instruments.  These instruments are the African Marimba instruments. This wonderful gift will ensure that the children’s special skills are carried forward and passed on for many years to come.

Learning to think out of the box and problem solve and be creative, is an important step in development.  A kind volunteer inspires the children and youth to be creative and make a variety of pretty things even out of scraps of material.

From the artistic skills of the youth, beautiful paintings were chosen at an Art competition for the Thabang children and youth.  The chosen paintings will be used as templates for scatter cushions- which will be made by the guardians in the support group at Thabang Drop-in Centre.  This support group meets once a month to share challenges, seek guidance and make handcrafts which can aid towards generating an income for their households.

Making memories with groups of visitors is very special.  Various groups of visitors enjoy visiting Thabang and doing things with the children.  Soccer is a favourite pastime where the children can showcase their soccer skills and learn more skills too.

Spending time around a warm fire on a cold winter evening, while sharing stories and singing songs with visiting supporters, always make for wonderful memories for all involved.
