Help us bring real impact to the fashion industry

Dear donors,

You've helped us before. We know you care about how the fashion industry is causing problems. It's the second biggest polluting industry after oil; and the second biggest polluter of clean water. This doesn't just affect the environment, it also harms people. In China, the country that clothes the world, a round 1.6 million Chinese people die every year from air pollution and 20% of China's soil is too contaminated to grow crops. At Redress we are fighting for the environment and these people - by spotlighting solutions to reduce this pollution.

If you donate to our project TODAY your donations will be matched through Global Giving’s ‘little by little’ campaign which will boost any donation under £50/HKD500 by 50% so we can do more - but there are limited funds in this campaign so please act fast!

With your donations, we will continue to improve the fashion industry. An update on some of our recent highlights is below:

Transforming fashion retail

We’re very excited to announce that EcoChic Design Award sponsor, Shanghai Tang’s first ever up-cycled collection launched in their Hong Kong and Singapore stores and online earlier this month. While working alongside the Shanghai Tang team last year, our The EcoChic Design Award 2014/15 winner, Kévin Germanier, created a beautiful capsule collection, up-cycled using the brand’s surplus textile stock, while enriching his marketing and business palette.

Our founder, Christina Dean said, “We have been promoting the business virtues of brands taking control of their own textile waste. Not only does this rid excess inventory in a creative and fashionable way, the resulting design-led products appeal to the increasingly environmentally-conscious consumer. As the curator of modern Chinese chic, Shanghai Tang are in a key position to present to Asia and the rest of the world a positive solution to the future of fashion.”

You can read more about the collaboration and buy the collection here.

Supporting new fashion businesses

Earlier this month we gathered select EcoChic Design Award alumni for an energy filled event to build Their businesss, during which four of our talented alumni shared thoughtfully crafted elevator pitches to a handpicked audience of enablers. Tsang Fanyu impressed the floor with his future vision for his namesake sustainable brand, taking home the best pitch title at the end of the evening. We were joined by 20+ industry gurus who joined us to share invaluable advice, knowledge and passion with the 15 alumni in attendance.

We want to connect this talented pool of designers with opportunities that will magnify their positive impacts further and we will keep supporting and enabling even more emerging designers through our The EcoChic Design Award.

Urgent! Educating Chinese and Indian designers

Our 2017 competition cycle is already underway and our educational activities are planned in the coming months in China and India - the top two global fashion and textile exporters that are both suffering significant environmental damage from making products for the rest of the world.  But we urgently need funds to reach these designers! We simply can't afford to reach those who need to be informed....

Please keep supporting us so we can continue to make an impact with the future of the fashion industry.

Best wishes,

Hannah
