At Redress, we aim high with our dream to transform the fashion industry and with this protect the environment. To get there, recently we have been heads down with our expansion. First up, we have appointed Jill Grinda as our new Executive Director, creating ripples in our Hong Kong office as well as in the global trade media. We then launched our new professional volunteer programme, scooping up 30 talented individuals in the shape of accountants, lawyers and IT experts and more. Next up, we tripled the size of our board of directors with a line up of heavyweights who don’t just aim high – but punch high too.
And our dreams have caught the attention of the corporate world too. We have been selected for multiple pro-bono capacity building partnerships, which are now in various stages of completion and include the interbank Not for Profit Director Program presented by CLSA, Credit Suisse, Macquarie Group, Nomura and State Street; the PwC Hong Kong mentoring programme; a pro-bono capacity building partnership with Li & Fung and Clifford Chance; a pro-bono legal relationship with Herbert Smith Freehills and David Lo & Partners; and a recent fundraising consultancy with Asian Charity Services.
In other news, our first feature length documentary, Frontline Fashion, made by Hong Kong production company Mustard, is coming a TV near you very soon. This follows our The EcoChic Design Award 2015/16 finalists - 10 talented Asian and European emerging fashion designers determined to change the future of fashion for the better. We witness the designers’ personal moments of epiphany as they dig through piles of clothing waste, travel to Southern China to one of the world’s biggest shirt manufacturers and compete on the runway during the most recent The EcoChic Design Award competition final as they sharpen their tools and knowledge to change the future of fashion. Watch the trailer here for a taste of what’s to come in our big-screen debut on Fashion One in August as we amplify the work of our educational programme to the wider world in our mission to transform the fashion industry.
Thanks as always for your continued support.
Best wishes,
Hannah
