Third Report for GlobalGiving
Project Title: Educating Children in Conditions of Rural Vulnerability
The COMAL Network's Gender Justice policy has among its objectives the economic and social empowerment of women. That implies accompaniment in their organizational processes and advice in their economic initiatives, in this way women generate the necessary income to guarantee access to education for their children.
Main achievements:
Despite economic limitations due to low fundraising in this quarter, progress was made in some processes in support of women:
Facilitated training workshop on Social Solidarity Economy, 24 Lenca indigenous women and youth from Intibucá, La Paz and Lempira participated. Some economic initiatives were identified to generate income in the communities, including the potential to organize a farmer's market, a bakery, and the processing of seasonal fruits.
We also facilitated a training day to strengthen governance, internal control, accountability and transparency capacities in rural communities in the northern zone of Santa Bárbara, with the participation of at least 18 rural women.
We would like to express our gratitude to all the donors who, through GlobalGiving, make this accompaniment to the women possible, which in turn contributes to the quality of life of the children of the farmers and indigenous families.
