This project arises as an alternative to guarantee access to education for 500 boys and girls children of single mothers, who due to their condition of poverty and vulnerability do not have the capacity to buy school supplies, shoes and uniforms, thus limiting the children's right to education, being this a universal basic right. In addition, comprehensive training processes will be promoted, as well as the promotion and strengthening of economic initiatives led by single mothers.
In Honduras there are an estimated 2.1 million households, of which at least 33% are headed by single mothers who, in the absence of a father figure, in addition to raising and caring for their children have had to assume the responsibility of looking after their livelihood. As a consequence of this problem, there is a high school dropout rate, low grades, and the few who manage to finish their primary education face great limitations to continue to the next academic level.
Red COMAL seeks to support 500 children in vulnerable conditions in rural areas in the southern, central and western regions of Honduras so that they can attend pre-basic and basic education. Each child will receive a kit of school supplies, uniforms, shoes and other basic materials so that they can receive the bread of knowledge with dignity.
