DEPDC has a new building which will be used for the Half day school and as a Community Learning Centre. The actual building is finished, but there is no funding yet to properly finish the building
DEPDC would like to finish the school building, so it can be used by the 180 children that come to study every day. These children live in 7 different villages in and around Mae Sai and almost all of them don't have citizenship. There are children from 9 different hill tribes attending the school. The Community Learning Centre will be used by the parents and other family and community members of these children. They will be taught about Human rights and health issues.
To be able to use the building DEPDC needs to put in the electrical system, finish the interior of the building (doors, windows, toilets etc.) and needs to buy equipment for the school, like chairs, tables and whiteboards.
In the new building the students will have proper equipment to use and they will not have to use the old and broken toilets anymore. The community members will learn more about their Human rights and health, which will make them less vulnerable.
This project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc).
