LEARN Afghan is working to establish new education programs that will support approximately 280 girls. Additionally, a new education institution is being established in Northern Afghanistan to ensure that around 160 girls can continue their studies. The initiatives include:
Our Activities:
LEARN Afghan has made significant progress in the provinces of Kandahar, Helmand, and Bamiyan, supporting over 391 students in these core areas. Our educational programs have expanded to semi-directly support the education of over 700 students across all our schools. These initiatives have not only provided essential educational resources but have also created safe, nurturing environments that empower students to pursue their academic goals.
In Kandahar, we have implemented comprehensive educational programs benefiting 122 students as of September. The introduction of specialized courses in STEM, Kankor exam preparation, and digital literacy has transformed traditional learning spaces into dynamic environments where students engage with modern educational tools and methodologies. The establishment of a dedicated Resource Center has been crucial in coordinating these efforts and providing a sustainable model for resource management and operational support.
In Helmand, a province facing significant challenges, the project has achieved notable success with 112 students participating in our targeted educational initiatives as of September. Our focus on enhancing academic resources and supporting students through structured learning paths has fostered a positive shift in educational engagement and achievement in the region. The introduction of specialized classrooms has not only improved academic outcomes but has also built a sense of community and resilience among students and educators alike.
In Bamiyan, the project has profoundly impacted 152 students as of September, primarily young girls, who now have access to enhanced educational opportunities that were previously unavailable. We have established new classes focused on STEM and English language skills, creating a pathway for students to pursue higher education and professional careers. This initiative has empowered these students to break barriers and aspire to new possibilities, contributing to the community's overall development.
Moreover, we have recruited and trained 25 qualified educators, ensuring that our programs are delivered with the highest standards of teaching and learning. By investing in professional development, we have strengthened the capacity of our teaching staff, which is critical for sustaining the quality and impact of our educational initiatives.
Throughout this period, we have remained dedicated to creating inclusive and supportive learning environments that prioritize the well-being and development of each student. Our resources have been instrumental in achieving this vision, enabling us to build resilient educational infrastructures and foster a culture of learning and growth.
Looking ahead, we are committed to continuing our work in these regions, building on the foundation established through our efforts. Our impact will resonate for years as we strive to provide quality education and opportunities for all students in Kandahar, Helmand, Bamiyan, Daikundi, Herat, and Samangan.
Expansion to New Provinces:
LEARN Afghan has successfully expanded its educational efforts into new provinces, broadening our reach to underserved communities:
Overall Impact:
Across all three provinces, LEARN Afghan has created safe, supportive, and resource-rich educational environments that foster learning and growth. Beyond physical infrastructure, we have prioritized the holistic development of students through extracurricular activities, counseling, and career guidance. The establishment of digital learning platforms has also been a critical component, allowing us to extend educational opportunities to students who cannot attend in person.
These initiatives have not only improved the educational outcomes of individual students but have also strengthened the broader community's capacity to support and sustain educational efforts. While the student numbers reported provide a snapshot of our reach at a given point in time, we remain committed to maintaining and expanding our efforts to provide quality education to all students in these regions.
The long-term impact of this project will be transformative for both individuals and communities. By providing access to quality education, especially for girls in underserved regions, LEARN Afghan is empowering future generations with the skills and knowledge needed for economic independence and community leadership. The establishment of educational infrastructure, including schools and digital platforms, ensures sustainable learning opportunities that will benefit future generations. This project also promotes social cohesion, gender equality, and resilience, contributing to economic growth and stability. Ultimately, the education provided through this initiative will help break cycles of poverty, reduce extremism, and foster a more equitable and prosperous society.
Finance Breakdown
Challenges:
Since the onset of the new regime, girls have faced severe restrictions on their right to education, with a ban preventing them from attending school from grades 6 to 12. This policy has had devastating effects on the lives and futures of countless young girls, stripping them of the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to their communities. The absence of education for adolescent girls not only jeopardizes their personal development but also undermines the social and economic progress of the entire nation. This exclusion has created a profound gap in the educational landscape, leading to a generation of girls deprived of the knowledge, skills, and opportunities necessary for their empowerment and the betterment of society.
Conclusion:
LEARN Afghan's initiatives have made significant strides in providing quality education to underserved regions, especially for girls who face severe restrictions under the current regime. By establishing new educational programs and infrastructure, we have empowered over 700 students across multiple provinces, creating safe and nurturing environments that promote holistic development and academic success. Our expansion into new provinces, along with the introduction of digital learning platforms and tailored curriculums, has ensured sustainable and impactful education that will benefit future generations. Despite the challenges posed by the ban on girls' education from grades 6 to 12, LEARN Afghan remains committed to breaking cycles of poverty, fostering gender equality, and contributing to a more equitable and prosperous society.
