A single solar light can do more than illuminate a room—it can open the door to learning, confidence, and opportunity.
Through the partnership between SolarBuddy and Develop Africa, children, students, and families at Assembly of God Church in Sierra Leone received solar study lights to help them continue learning after sunset.
For many students in Sierra Leone, unreliable electricity can make studying at night difficult. A dependable solar light provides students with the opportunity to read, complete assignments, study for exams, and continue their education even when electricity is unavailable.
One university student shared:
“For me, this light is very important because, as a university student living in Sierra Leone with constant light issues, I will be needing it to study. Thank you all for giving us this light. We appreciate you.”
The solar lights distributed through this partnership are helping students from primary school through college make better use of their evenings. They provide a practical tool that supports learning while also giving students greater independence and confidence in pursuing their education.
Education is essential to developing the future leaders of Sierra Leone. Every opportunity we provide for a child or student to learn brings them one step closer to achieving their goals and contributing to their family and community.
Every light represents opportunity, dignity, and hope for a learner working toward a brighter future.
Thank you to our donors and partners for helping invest in education, empower students, and create brighter futures—one light at a time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Amy and the Develop Africa Team
