Project Report | Aug 26, 2015
The closer of schools

By VAAFD TEAM | Executive Director

Since the invisible enemy Ebola attacked our nation Liberia and the two others Minor River countries, it has imposed a lot of challenges to all sectors of the three countries Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. But Liberia brings the second poorest country in the world suffered the most because of the fragile health system, the Ebola nearly killed closed to 5000 persons in the country. The situation of this nation remains very much critical when it comes to education; over 80% percent of the entire population is illiterate. The Ebola epidemic has created a lot of setback to the educational system and affected our students as well. However, we continue to work and create the necessary opportunity help kids we serve. With the limited resources, we continue to provide the best to all of our students to acquire quality education. During the Ebola fight in Liberia, our organization played a major role in providing the awareness to communities to our students. Through a joint efforts from International organization and the ministry of health, we are the country is finally free from the Ebola.

The Ebola epidemic had gone but a great set back to the students and the educational sector of Liberia. Schools got re-open in March and finally closed in July that which was a short time to operate school and students promoted to the next class. That wasn’t really an enough time to build capacity of students who have been sitting home for almost a year due to this Ebola epidemic. The minister of Education took a decision that all schools shut down and re-open in September to start as fresh but this statement was misunderstood by both parents and got the house of parliament involved. And they proposed that for that short period students should be promoted to the class accepts grade 9th and 12th base on that promotion has to take place.

We want to use this opportunity to thank all of supporters and donors for their generosity; we appreciate your kindness without you there will be no free education for the forgotten children of Liberia.

We have a week and couple days for school to reopen and our land lord rent has increased from $2700.00 to $3,000.00 imposing a kind of difficulties to us, we want ask for your continual support to this project our students got 7 pieces of computer tablets from Map Your World and these computer tablets will be used to undertake a project please help us support it.

Again, many thanks to you all who are supporting and we also want to thank Globalgiving for their support as well.
