Your gift empowers local leaders directing six grassroots change initiatives in communities in Latin America and Africa. Leaders will receive training, tools, and ongoing mentorship to develop skills needed for success: strategic planning, financial management, fundraising, program implementation, etc. Programs develop culturally appropriate solutions for impoverished communities, and include women's empowerment in South Sudan, financial literacy in Guatemala, water access in Kenya, and others.
Local leaders understand the needs of their communities better than anyone, and they often have the most tangible and sustainable solutions to complex problems such as gender-based violence, illiteracy, and lack of economic opportunity. Yet local leaders from disenfranchised communities often do not have the expertise or resources required to implement community development initiatives. They need education, technical support, and mentorship to develop their capacities to make sustainable change.
This project takes a capacity-building approach to community development, equipping local heroes with technical expertise, resources, and mentorship to initiate and sustain grassroots programs. Based in trusting relationships, consistent, long-term, and individualized support will be provided to local leaders based on needs. Capacity-building trainings will help leaders build skills in areas such as strategic planning, financial management, and program implementation.
Your gift supports long-term sustainability through partnerships with leaders that have a personal connection to the communities in which they work. GRACE Cares works hand-in-hand with these local leaders through program development, funding, implementation, and impact evaluation. Through your gift, we will support six local leaders in five countries as they empower women, educate youth, support health and hygiene, and generate economic growth in small communities.
