Project Update

By Mohamed B. Koroma | Project Leader

As of 2023, the status of girls' education in Tanzania has seen some progress, but challenges remain.. Despite increased enrollment, dropout rates among girls, especially in secondary education, remain high. Factors contributing to this include early marriages, teenage pregnancies, and economic pressures.

It is common knowledge that girls in urban areas of Tanzania are eight times more likely to finish secondary education than girls in rural areas mainly due to extreme poverty and limited infrastructural development in rural areas.

Also, according to UNICEF, poverty, early marriage and pregnancy keep girls out of school in Tanzania. Adolescent pregnancy led to almost 3,700 girls dropping out of primary and secondary education in 2016. More than one-third of all girls are married by the age of 18, but girls from poor families are twice as likely to be married early than girls from wealthier homes.

During the period under review, the organization provided school uniforms, shoes, books to 10 school girls in the Arusha rural community in Tanzaniathrough the GlobalGiving platform.

We continue to thank and appreciate our partners and friends who donated their hard-earned cash towards this project. Please be rest assured that through your generous support, you're positively impacting the lives of young gilrls in Arusha, Tanzania.
