Edukatu is a free access website already available to educate for conscious consumption. Based on Edukatu platform this project will raise awareness of 100 teachers and 1000 students from 6 to 15 years old from Brazil public school through the completion of a knowledge acquisition path on natural resources as a way to change the behavior of teachers, students and surrounding community towards conscious consumption as a way to contribute to sustainability through the change of lifestyles.
In Brazil, there is a shortage of structured contents, material and knowledge in most schools related to Conscious Consumption and sustainability which would be necessary to mobilize the youth towards more sustainable life styles. There is a great opportunity in working with young people in schools to promote theses changes in behavior, since they are in a phase in which values are being formed this knowledge will be central to their future habits as consumers and respective impacts.
By attending Edukatu sessions and content path teachers and students would interact with a method to catalyze changes in consciousness and in consumer behaviors: To develop an emotional and rational understanding of the impacts of consumer behaviors; To promote motivation of consumers to change their consumption behaviors and to mobilize others in the same direction; To offer a repertoire of conscious consumption behaviors to allow individuals to make better choices in their consumption.
In the 5 years of its existence Edukatu achieved around: ~ 32,000 people registered ~ 28,000 students registered ~ 120,000 students impacted in schools ~ 7,500 teachers registered ~ + 300,000 people impacted in communities In addition, 3,000 schools from different states in Brazil have registered to the platform. Global giving project would educate 1000 children and 100 teachers and could extrapolate this knowledge and habits changes to around 10.000 people from the related community.
