The Educate, Equip & Empower (EEE) project is designed to tackle poverty; retention, enrollment and completion of girl child education; enable networking and mentoring between female students and women professionals around the world and provide access to opportunities for women and girls in Nigeria.
SEPTEMBER 2022 - NOVEMBER 2022 UPDATE
Observance Days
To mark the 16 Days of Activism for 20223, EWEI carried online awareness on the dangers of Violence Against Women and Girls. We marked the event by commencing with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25 2022 and ended 10 December with the Human Rights Day. The theme for the 16 Days of Activism was “UNITE! Activism to end violence against women and girls”
In line with the theme, we shared statistics on GBV, highlighting the urgency of the matter and called on everyone to play their part to make GBV a thing of the past. We also shared quotes and discussed ways we could bring about change and put an end to GBV.
Our E-chat for the month of September was also promoted in the group.
In October, we had EWEI International Conference. The event was made accessible to members of the group as learning opportunity.
Global and local funding opportunities and volunteer positions were also shared on the platform to give members visibility about professional, academic and financial opportunities.
Challenges
Our primary challenge continues to be the low engagement of members on our platform. Additionally, we have observed a limited number of membership requests.
Mitigation
To address these challenges, we will increase the sharing of educational resources within the EWEI Online community. To encourage greater participation, we will supplement our posts with questions and engaging activities, fostering a culture of interaction and discussion among our members.
Next Steps
Looking ahead, we remain committed to boosting engagement and membership. We will continue our cross-posting strategy, spreading the word about EWEI Online across all our social media platforms to encourage more women to join our community. Additionally, we will host our monthly E-Chat video chats, providing a valuable platform for our members to connect. Furthermore, we will recognise and reward our most active members by inviting them to participate in one of our on-site events, recognising their contributions to our community.
