EDUCATE, EQUIP AND EMPOWER 230 WOMEN AND GIRLS

The Educate, Equip & Empower (EEE) project is designed to tackle poverty, retention, enrollment and completion of girl child education, enable networking and mentoring between female students and women professionals around the world and also provide access to opportunities for women and girls in Nigeria. 

September 2021 – November 2021 Update

EWEI Online, our online community for horizontal learning, exchange and mentorship, has in the last quarter carried out impactful activities online. 

In September 2021, we engaged in discussions around the topic; Women, Conflict and Peacebuilding, under the following sub-themes: 

• Conflict and the experiences of women
• The role women play in conflict situations
• The role women play in peacebuilding
• What more can women do as regard peacebuilding

In October 2021, we had interactive discussions around Digital Equality.Sub themes covered are:

• What is digital equality; Data around digital access and barriers to digital equality
• Celebrating women in the digital space
• How we can achieve digital equality: How do we break the barrier women face in accessing the digital space?
• Leveraging and exploiting the opportunities in a digital world; Opportunities available in the digital world and tips on working in the digital space.

In November 2021, our discussion was on Gender Based Violence, with the theme; End Violence Against Women Now. The following sub-topics were covered:

• Conceptualising violence against women under the following areas; definition of violence against women, gender-based violence and types of violence against women.
• Violence against women in educational and religious institutions and how to mitigate them.
• Violence against women in political institutions and workspace violence and how to mitigate them.
• Violence against women entrepreneurs, freelancers and violence against women in the family, and methods of mitigation.

In this quarter, we also shared fun facts, riddles and made polls to gauge members' views and opinions on important issues we discussed, to promote interactivity.
