A continuous push for EWEI Online has been the focus of Empowering Women for Excellence Initiative (EWEI) due to inefficient funds to boost the EEE project. The EWEI Online platform hosts mentors from around the world who facilitate discussions on topics that are educative and informative. EWEI Online also engages participants in fun activities like teasers, fun facts and quizzes.
Activities on EWEI Online fully resumed on 8 March 2019, with the topic ‘International Women’s Day: Balance for Better’ to kick-start interactions on the group. From March to May, a total of 25 unique topics have been discussed including Cancer, Malaria, Stereotypes, Mental Health, just to name a few. The platform has hosted two mentors for live chat sessions.
On 25 April 2019 the very first live chat on Slack was held. Dr. Kudirat Faro Adeniji, a doctor with over 10 years’ experience in the clinical practice of tropical medicine. She led the interesting discussions on the topic, ‘Malaria’. The second live chat was held on 23 May 2019. Mary Bassi, an M.Pharmacy student in the United Kingdom, and a Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) enthusiast for young people and women, hosted the live chat on the topic ‘Obstetric Fistula.’
