We wish you could have been with us to share in the joy we felt during our April visit with the children and team at Delia's Center. You have given the children a safe learning environment and they feel good about themselves knowing that they receive support and friendship here.
In April, it was myself, Laura Larkin and a US Board Member, Kyle. Lucky Laura had visited in snowy February also, braving snowstorms to be with the kids! While we are in Barlad, we try to spend as much time as possible at the center but also to connect with others locally as our organization is rooted in the community.
One of the other ways we are able to serve the community is enabled by our relationship with German NGO, Ora Kinderhilfe. Amongst the wonderful ways they help us support families and children is sending us transports of humanitarian aide from their corporate partners. It was so exciting to be there when one of these transports arrived in April bringing us Barilla pasta, oatmeal of many types from Liedl/Fortin, and Wepa toilet paper. Previous transports have brought us Adidas sneakers and shirts and items from other companies. You can imagine what a big help this is and how grateful we are to receive the items. June 1st was International Day of the Child. Our team held two celebrations so that as many children as possible could attend. We had dressed up characters who came to play with bubbles, parachutes, dancing, limbo and face painting! We started our time together with arts and crafts projects. The kids had a blast! It is so important for them to feel part of something as they are often left out of fun activities with other children.
