Summary

The children living on the lap of Himalayas are willing to receive quality education but due to the geographical remoteness, lack of infrastructure and absence of qualified teachers, they have been denied of the fundamental necessities. Through CREASION, Karnali Education Mission looks forward to creating a self-sustainable and inclusive educational system in Dolpa by uplifting and empowering children with and without disabilities, youth as well as women of the community.

Challenge

Due to geographic remoteness, diverse issues of poverty and conflict as well as inefficient management, schools do not have access to local-curriculum based 21st century pragmatic education as well as necessary infrastructures enough to pursue education in a swing. There is a lack of awareness about the ways to minimize the risks associated with the transmission of COVID-19 as well as environmental education. Above all, the average schooling years in Dolpa is just 2.53 years.

Solution

Karnali Education Mission aims to revolutionize the education system by strengthening the present curriculum through value-based education and encourage co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in Shree Janapriya Basic School and Shree Kanjirowa Basic School. We aim to provide practical-based education to 300 students as well as engage youth and women to build a symbiotic learning environment.

Long-Term Impact

The two schools would have developed infrastructural capacity to provide inclusive pragmatic education to special children, and empower women, children and youth. Children graduating from the classes would receive quality education for the holistic growth. Increase in schooling of students to 6 years will provide a base for career development and prosper economic growth of the region. The facilitation to the schools will support harmony as well as pave a path for a wiser Dolpa community.
