As a community based organization, we provide an opportunity for children and youths in an underserved slum community to have a shot at life. We support children to go to school, stay in school and gain quality education. We empower youths with employability or vocational & entrepreneurial skills, to become economically engaged and make a living for themselves. We do this because every child deserves quality education, safety and a chance to thrive, irrespective of their backgrounds.
The number of out-of-school children and idle youth in our community is alarming. UNICEF reports that one in five out-of-school children globally is in Nigeria. With nearly half of our population living on less than $2 a day, quality education is out of reach for many. Economic hardship forces parents to prioritize survival over schooling, leaving children to hawk goods or beg on the streets. This deprives them of a better future and deepens the cycle of poverty and vulnerability to crime.
We support children in our slum community to go to school by providing essential resources for quality education. Through our community projects, we distribute backpacks with supplies, shoes, and equip teachers with training and teaching aids. Our mobile library promotes literacy, and we offer full-tuition scholarships for university students. To empower unemployed youths, we provide vocational and entrepreneurship training, along with start-up kits, fostering long-term financial independence.
Our impact provides quality educational opportunities for low-income children and helps reduces the rate of out-of-school youth. Our mobile library, often their only access to books, helps develop a love for reading and broadens their horizons. Additionally, by economically empowering youth to be self-sufficient, we reduce crime, foster a safer environment, and help break the cycle of poverty in the community. Till date, we have sustainably impacted over 5,200 lives.
