Talia Agler Girls Shelter continues to serve as a haven for survivors of Gender-Based Violence, Trafficking, and Exploitation of Girls and young Women. By providing holistic care, ranging from medical support and psychosocial counseling to legal assistance as well as Education support programs and reintegration planning , our focus remains on restoring dignity, safety, and hope to every survivor who comes through our doors.
Between May 2025 and August 2025, Talia Angler Girls Shelter opened its doors to twelve (12) survivors of Violence, Exploitation, and Abuse. Each admission represented more than just a number, it was a life seeking safety, dignity, and a chance to heal. During this period, our dedicated team walked closely with every survivor, offering medical care, psychosocial support, counseling, and empowerment opportunities tailored to their individual needs.
We are proud to share that five survivors completed their recovery journey and were exited from the shelter, ready to take the next step toward independence and rebuilding their lives with renewed strength.
One of the survivors, Grace (not her real name), was expectant at the time of her rescue. She has been diligently attending her antenatal clinic (ANC) appointments, with her expected date of delivery (EDD) set for the 27TH OF September. The shelter team has been walking closely with her during this journey, offering not only medical follow-ups but also psychosocial support to ensure she feels safe, cared for, and emotionally stable.
The shelter also supported one case that proceeded to court. This was a survivor of trafficking whose matter was successfully heard within the judicial system. Following her rehabilitation and completion of the legal process, she was exited from the shelter.
With reference to the above cases, it’s worth noting that the exit process is managed carefully to ensure that survivors transition safely back into family or community care. Reintegration pathways include education re-entry, vocational training, and family or community reintegration. Notably, there is a strong possibility of one of the survivors returning to school, a step that will significantly enhance her prospects and independence.
On 12th August 2025, we unveiled the first edition of TAGS Magazine, a platform that elevates survivor voices, celebrates community impact, and underscores our commitment to advocacy and awareness. To view the magazine, Click here
We remain deeply grateful to our donors and partners whose support makes this work possible. With your continued commitment, we can expand reintegration opportunities, strengthen survivor-centered services, and keep restoring hope for more women and girls in need.
