Project Report | Dec 15, 2024
2025 Priorities

By Beatrice K | Project Coordinator

Progressive Volunteers and the project beneficiaries appreciate the team of dedicated donors/supporters for standing with us in 2024. We salute our donors for their support towards the educational program in the six informal schools in Kenya and for contributing towards the achievement of universal primary education.

During the year 2024, the project engaged a total of 15 volunteer teachers and mentors in the six partner schools. They provided teaching and mentorship services for students, and this helped improve the academic standards of students. The teaching program took place every day from Monday to Friday and the mentorship program placed volunteer mentors once a week to hold sessions on different topics in the schools. We are happy the project is a success as the neediest school children receive better and quality education and more children are becoming more literate. All six schools recorded great performances during 2024, this is due to several factors including volunteer teachers and mentors’ exemplary services in the schools. This meets our goal of educating informal settlements kids to finish school with a high level of literacy.

For the 2025 program, our assessment of reading materials in the schools revealed that the schools are ill-equipped with learning materials. Our call for support in 2025 is therefore to help these six non-formal schools acquire reading and learning materials enough for over 500 students who are the direct beneficiaries of the project. We do appreciate your commitment and continued support to this project.
