Educate and Empower 400 PLWD as Leaders in Nigeria
In our last reporting quarter, we provided some information on GIEVA’s Landscape Analysis study. The positive reactions and feedback from Persons with Disability (PWD) to our “landscaping analysis of PWDs challenges” provide us with a deeper understanding of developing strategic actions.
The long-term “Sustainable Transformative Education Project” (STEP) has now become GIEVA’s springboard for designing a micro project to support and enhance young PWD individuals and continues to yield foundational contextual findings. As we arrange to publish the findings to reach a broader audience of researchers and readers, the landscape analysis provides primary information. It enables us to begin to undertake more targeted education projects focused on identifying PWD students interested in STEM-related fields and AI-powered training programs. From the landscape analysis study, we know not only how to discover systemic discrimination but also how to address it through legislative means.
In GIEVA’s intentional approach, we are developing and incorporating in the coming quarter digital-powered training programs to encourage inclusion in accessing the growing AI-powered digital economy and financial inclusion.
On a sad note, this report will not be complete if we do not inform our supporters about the death of Dorothy. Dorothy was our determined and resilient advocate who planned to share her story on championing the establishment of a support group for female paraplegics regarding sanitary products (diapers, sanitary towels, catheters, and urine bags). We shall miss Dorothy's inspirational smiles, who always said, “Disability is not the absence of creativity, innovation, and human inherent resilience”. May her soul rest in peace.
Finally, we at GIEVA wish to extend our sincere appreciation to the GlobalGiving organization for providing this unique platform to continue to tell our stories and share with our faithful donors who continue to support our strategic CAUSE as a pathway for PWD in Nigeria.
