We, lndian Association for the Blind (lAB), are based in South India and are a well-known non-profit organization working to provide education, employment, training and rehabilitation for the visually challenged from rural areas. It was established in 1985 by visually challenged activist Late Mr. S.M.A.Jinnah and a group of like-minded visually challenged people. Till date, more than 11200 youths have been benefited by us and now hold prestigious positions in society.
For this project, we have received donations from 73 donors till date. The total raised amounts to $7854.75. This huge sum has been highly beneficial in implementing our educational project ideas for the welfare of our students.
Using the donations we received, we were able to provide our children with good quality Braille study material and well-equipped educational kits to aid in their learning. In the exact words of our beneficiary, P.Pandiyaraj, “I am very happy with the Braille coaching that is provided here and the importance given to education. I am lucky to get good, timely guidance from my teachers. Training offered in Computers and spoken English is very beneficial to enhance my knowledge. Above all, the well-equipped library is a real boon.”
